St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is a dynamic, open Christian community whose members worship according to the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, seek to know God, support one another, and serve as the risen body of Christ among our neighbors and in the wider world.
“The -ships”
The ship is an ancient Christian symbol of the church, upheld by God's grace as it carries us through the storms of life.
These five key areas of our life together, as set forth by St. Paul's Long Range Plan, provide the structure and vision of our mission and ministry.
Worship: The altar around which we gather in worship is the heart of our community. Praise of God and the return of thanks to God is “the work of the people.” We are a house of praise, which is our duty and delight.
Discipleship: Jesus called his disciples as learners and followers. The parish must be a place where we are formed to be such disciples. Children raised with the stories. Adults challenged to learn diligently and act faithfully. Our formation as Christian disciples is lifelong.
Kinship: By baptism we are brothers and sisters in this place. It’s all about knowing others and being known, about being safe and being cared for, about having kindred with whom to share every joy and sorrow. The phrase “parish family” reflects this reality of relationship and caring at St. Paul’s.
Apostleship: The word apostle means “one who has been sent out.” Just as Jesus was “sent by the Father,” so in turn did he send out others to do God’s work. As a parish, and as individuals within it, St. Paul’s has a strong history of going out from these walls to serve others locally and globally.
Stewardship: Stewardship is our use of the gifts that God has given us to accomplish the work to which God has called us. We are stewards of our facility, of our financial resources, and of our talents, as we use them faithfully, gratefully and generously to advance the Kingdom of God.
