At St. Paul’s, we use the word ‘Apostleship’ in a particular way. We mean for it to convey the theological dimension of the outreach activities that we undertake. Just as Jesus sent his followers out, so we, who have been formed in the way of Christ, must also take the Good News out into the world.

The structure for organizing outreach activities at St. Paul’s is the Apostleship Commission, a council of leaders from Apostolic Action Groups, organized by interest and active in Hunger, Housing, Health, Global Mission, Older Adults, Children and Youth Ministries, Imago Dei (racial reconciliation), Children’s Education and Poverty.

All Apostleship activities are open to parishioner involvement. Please contact our Deacon and Volunteer Coordinator Kirby Colwell for information about any of community activities or for help in finding your niche in the outreach activites of St. Paul's.

Here are some ways that St. Paul's parishioners "serve as the risen body of Christ among our neighbors and in the wider world:"

St. Paul's parishioners contribute new, non-perishable food each week to the Heights Emergency Food Center. Red barrels are provided in the narthex of the church for food collection.

St. Paul’s volunteers work with Family Promise of Greater Cleveland to provide dinner, lodging and fellowship to displaced individuals as they change the courses of their lives.

The Homeless Stand-Down is an ecumenical effort sponsored by InterAct Cleveland to address needs of homeless people in Cleveland.

Volunteer school tutors give direct instruction and encouragement to children of Miles Park Elementary School.

A hearty monthly meal is provided and served at Calvary Presbyterian Church, sponsored by InterAct Cleveland and Loaves and Fishes.

St. Paul’s collaborates with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries in providing a Listening Ministry to guests at the 2100 Lakeside Emergency Shelter.  Our Stephen Ministers provide training to those who wish to volunteer.

For over 15 years, St Paul’s has enjoyed a close working relationship with Open Doors, Inc., a dynamic program of after school care and enrichment activities to middle schoolers in the immediate community.
